If you are receiving a Facebook update concerning the Art Room website then there are two ways to access new postings:
If you are accessing the site from your phone then please go to the icon that looks like a triple lined square in the upper left hand corner. You will get a drop down menu and you will have to select specific pages to view the new work that has been posted.
If you are on some form of a PC then opening the site from Facebook should provide you with the page links on the left side of the home page.

REQUEST FOR MATERIALS: I have some project ideas that involves using puzzle pieces. If you have any old puzzle sets you would be willing to donate to the art room that would be fantastic! No worries about the condition or if the puzzle is incomplete; we will be painting them and drawing on them and adding them to our collage work. Thank you!
I'd like to welcome everyone to the 2014-15 school year here in the Chinn Art Room! There were some big structural changes at Chinn over the summer including a new art room. You will find me in room 116 now, across the hall and two doors down from the old art room. As you can see I have a beautiful new floor and I have changed up the decor a bit. I have a lovely view of the outdoor classroom which I find relaxing-no more recess noise outside our windows for us! I have developed some very different, interesting projects for everyone this year! So looking forward to creating and having fun with everyone!

Check out our new stools! Mrs. Hemphill's class decided they are much sturdier and more streamlined looking than our old ones. Students mentioned the stools are slightly shorter than the others so everyone's feet can touch the floor. We also noticed that our other stools had masonite seats which was more challenging to keep clean. Thanks to all of you who came out to support our school on McTeacher night. Your generosity helped purchase our new studio furniture!
The following finalists were selected by a student vote and sent off to the Anita B Gorman Conservation Discovery Center “Nature in Your Neighborhood” Art Contest. Winners will be announced sometime in early March! Good luck to our talented finalists!!!

Fifth graders researched a variety of birds Native to our state. Using basic shapes the birds were sketched then made to look three dimensional by adding lines, texture and value (shading). Oil pastel and watercolor were used for the background to make the birds contrast from their environment.

Check out this cool art challenge from Pinterest! Great idea for summer time fun and to keep the kids engaged while traveling. A big thanks to one of our wonderful Kindegarten teachers, Mrs. Ellen Hamilton, for sharing!

Third graders took a field trip to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art on January 9th. They took a class about mythical creatures and made one of their own. They also experienced a guided tour through the galleries of the museum.
